The Healing Place and LG&E Announce Patriot Game V
Charitable Event Honors Those Who Serve Our Community
(LOUISVILE, Ky.) – The Healing Place and LG&E will host a news conference to announce the fifth annual Patriot Game, a charity basketball game between the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Louisville Fire Department. For the fifth year, the event is being sponsored by LG&E and will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Bellarmine University, Knights Hall.
The purpose of the Patriot Game is to honor our local heroes – the men and women of the police and fire departments and other first responders; to commemorate the anniversary and heroes of 9/11; and to raise needed funds for The Healing Place. This year marks the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Mayor Abramson’s office has designated Patriot Game V as an official 9/11 commemorative event.

The Healing Place is Louisville’s solution for the addicted and homeless in our community and the model for Recovery Kentucky. The Healing Place has been serving homeless men and women and their children since 1989 and is an award winning, nationally recognized program, having been named a “Model That Works” by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It provides a detox center, free medical clinic, and long-term recovery program for its clients. Its mission is to reach the homeless, offer recovery for the addicted, and help restore productive lives. In January 2005, Gov. Ernie Fletcher announced “Recovery Kentucky,” an initiative to provide 10 new shelter recovery centers statewide, using the Healing Place model.
LG&E is a wholly-owned subsidiary of E.ON U.S. LLC that serves 321,000 natural gas and 394,000 electric customers in Louisville, Ky. and 16 surrounding counties.
